GPR4
GP Series
GPR4 is the 4-flute corner radius family in the GP series. Its catalog diameter range is 1 to 20 mm, with an AlCr-based condition, unequal helix geometry and a below-55-HRC boundary.
MSU-Manufactured Carbide End Mills
MSU manufactures non-micro, non-roughing corner radius end mills across GP, GPP, HPX, MH and MSM catalog series.
Choose a corner radius end mill when the tool must retain a flat cutting end and include a defined corner radius. Compare the families by diameter, corner radius, flute count, coating, material condition and application before requesting a catalog check or quotation.
Send the tool diameter, corner radius, workpiece and operation for review.
Request a Corner Radius End Mill ReviewThe MSU catalog contains five corner radius families and 196 catalog codes. These carbide corner radius end mills retain a flat cutting end and add a defined radius at the tool corner, a geometry also called bull nose.
Corner Rounding End Mills are different tools used to generate a radius on an external workpiece edge. See Corner Rounding End Mills for that geometry. Micro and roughing corner-radius tools are separate product groups. Catalog codes identify configurations; confirm current availability during quotation.

Compare the five families by diameter, tool corner radius, coating and catalog material boundary.
Compare Corner Radius SeriesChoose the family from the catalog condition, then verify the exact diameter and corner radius combination in the model row. A family-level diameter range does not mean that every radius is available at every diameter.
| Catalog family | Flute count | Catalog diameter range | Catalog condition or route | What to confirm next |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GPR4 | 4 | 1–20 mm | AlCr-based; unequal helix; below 55 HRC | Diameter, corner radius, lengths, workpiece and operation |
| GPPR4 | 4 | 1–20 mm | AlCr-based; below 55 HRC | Diameter, corner radius, lengths, workpiece and operation |
| HPRX4 | 4 | 3–20 mm | AlCr-based; below 55 HRC | Diameter, corner radius, workpiece and operation |
| MHR4 | 4 | 2–12 mm | TiAlSi; below 65 HRC | Workpiece grade, hardness, diameter, radius and operation |
| MSMR4 | 4 | 2–16 mm | ZrN; unequal helix; stainless-steel and titanium route | Exact material grade, diameter, radius, operation and coolant |
The exact catalog row controls diameter, corner radius, cutting length, reach, shank and overall length. Coating names and hardness boundaries are catalog conditions, not universal performance statements. For coating selection factors, review the End Mill Coating Guide.
Continue to the part geometry, workpiece and setup information required for selection.
Review Corner Radius InputsUse this geometry when the programmed tool needs a flat end together with a defined tool corner radius. Requests may include profiling, shoulder features and semi-finishing operations, but the part geometry, engagement and acceptance requirement must be reviewed before the tool is selected. Use the End Mill Selection Guide to review geometry, workpiece material and setup. Provide the following inputs together:
Steel and pre-hardened steel milling
Review GPR4, GPPR4 and HPRX4 for requests within the catalog boundary.
Review MHR4 for hardened-steel requests within its catalog boundary.
Stainless-steel milling and titanium-alloy milling
Review MSMR4 with the exact grade, operation and coolant conditions.
Submit the drawing when a required diameter-radius or length combination is not confirmed in the catalog.
Related geometries
Do not use the tool corner radius as a substitute for a full ball-nose profile; use Ball Nose End Mills when a continuous spherical cutting profile is required. To generate a radius on an external workpiece edge, use Corner Rounding End Mills instead.
Custom review
If the required diameter, radius, length or body geometry is not confirmed in the catalog, submit the drawing through Custom Cutting Tools for feasibility review. The review does not guarantee that every combination can be manufactured.
Send the diameter and tool corner radius as separate values with the workpiece and operation.
Send Corner Radius RequirementsThe current Corner Radius End Mills catalog contains 196 catalog codes across five families. Compare the available family and model-code choices in the table below.

For the exact model, confirm the catalog code, cutting diameter, corner radius, cutting length, reach, shank diameter, overall length, flute count, coating and published material or hardness condition.

It is the defined radius between the tool's flat cutting end and its peripheral cutting edge. State it separately from the tool diameter.
Bull nose and corner radius end mills refer to the same general geometry: a flat cutting end with a radius at the tool corner. The MSU range contains five families.
A corner radius end mill retains a flat cutting end with a defined tool corner radius. A ball nose end mill has a continuous spherical cutting profile.
No. A corner radius end mill describes the radius built into the tool corner. A corner rounding end mill is selected to generate a radius on an external workpiece edge.
MSMR4 is the published stainless-and-titanium corner-radius route, with ZrN, unequal helix geometry and a 2–16 mm catalog diameter range. The exact material grade, diameter-radius combination, operation and coolant still require review.
Yes. Submit the drawing or complete dimensions for feasibility review. The review does not guarantee every radius, tolerance, substrate, coating or length combination.
