Manufacturing Equipment

Explore the CNC tool grinders used in the MSU factory.

MSU has 35 Walter and ANCA CNC tool grinding machines across its manufacturing operation, including Walter HELITRONIC MICRO equipment.

The 35 grinders serve the combined MSU manufacturing operation. Equipment and production requirements for an individual tool depend on its geometry, tolerance and order quantity.

For a manufacturing inquiry, send the product family, drawing, critical features, inspection requirements and expected quantity. MSU can then assess the production requirements for your tool.

Review the Production Process

Production Process

Production starts with the selected catalog code or approved drawing and the agreed order requirements.

  1. Define the product family, catalog reference or drawing revision.

  2. Confirm the critical dimensions, geometry, material or substrate, coating request and acceptance requirements that apply to the order.

  3. Review feasibility and quotation conditions for any non-catalog requirement.

  4. Select the production process for the product geometry and order requirements.

  5. Confirm the applicable inspection basis and required records through the order documentation.

  6. Complete the whole order within 25–30 days from order placement.

Custom Tool Manufacturing

Custom cutting-tool requirements can be submitted for feasibility review within the four MSU-manufactured product families.

Custom cutting tool drawing and MSU-manufactured carbide tool

MSU reviews custom manufacturing requirements for Carbide End Mills, Thread Mills, Holemaking Tools and Carbide Inserts.

Submit the customer drawing or technical file together with relevant dimensions, lengths, flute count, end geometry, radius, chamfer, helix angle, material or substrate, coating, quantity and acceptance requirement. MSU can review the requirement, and applicable projects may include dimensional reporting.

  • Customer drawing or technical file
  • Relevant dimensions and lengths
  • Flute count and end geometry
  • Radius, chamfer or helix angle
  • Material, substrate or coating request
  • Quantity and acceptance requirement

MSU assesses the requested material, geometry, tolerance and coating together. Sample approval, MOQ, sample cost, production conditions and batch delivery are confirmed for the project and quotation.

Use Custom Cutting Tools to prepare a manufacturing inquiry. Customization of partner-supplied products is assessed separately with the relevant supplier.
