Combination Drill & Thread Mills

MSU manufactures combination drill and thread mills across four catalog product groups for combined drilling, thread milling and, where stated by the product group, chamfering requirements.

Compare these combination tools by operation scope, thread standard, pilot diameter, pitch, hole depth, reach and workpiece. Send the selected catalog entry when known, or provide the hole and thread drawing for review.

Explore Combination Drill & Thread Mills

The current MSU range contains four combination-tool product groups. Their names distinguish bottom-hole, drilling, threading, chamfering, material and DLC catalog conditions.

These integrated tools combine drilling and thread milling, with chamfering included where specified by the product group. Separately purchased drill and thread mill sets, threading taps and standalone solid carbide drills are separate product types.

Choose Combination Drill & Thread Mills for Your Application

Provide the complete hole and thread requirement so MSU can review the applicable catalog route or a custom geometry.

  1. Part drawing with the hole, thread and chamfer features identified.
  2. Thread standard, full designation, nominal size and pitch or TPI.
  3. Pilot diameter, hole depth, thread depth, through or blind condition and bottom clearance.
  4. Chamfer angle and size when chamfering is part of the required feature.
  5. Workpiece material, exact grade, hardness and material condition when known.
  6. Machine and control, holder, available reach, overhang, coolant method and programming constraints.
  7. Quantity, destination country, target date and inspection or acceptance requirements.

Manufacturing and Quality Control

Combination Drill & Thread Mills are part of the MSU-manufactured Thread Mills product line. The current Thread Mills catalog lists the four product groups in this range.

See MSU Factory for manufacturing facilities and Quality Control for inspection and measurement processes.

For an order, the selected hole, thread, chamfer and dimensional requirements are confirmed against the applicable catalog entry, quotation, order or approved drawing. Product-specific tolerance, runout, combined-operation result, cycle time, material suitability and tool-life requirements must be reviewed with the applicable conditions and records.
